10 Ways to get the most out of your massage.
  1. You will be much more comfortable if you do not eat for a couple of hours before your massage.
  2. You can start the relaxation process even before the massage begins by taking a hot shower, bath or sauna first.
  3. Take off all jewelry that could interfere with a smooth massage.
  4. If you wear glasses or contacts, remove them.
  5. Inform your therapist if you are concerned with getting oil in your hair. However, a good scalp massage shouldn't be missed.
  6. Let your therapist know if there are any special areas that need extra work or areas that should be avoided.
  7. Try to keep talking to a minimum. Being quiet will allow you to tune in to your experience, and relax more deeply. But, don't hesitate to give feedback regarding the amount of pressure being applied, or if there is a question regarding your treatment.
  8. Let the therapist do all the work. Don't try to help. You will get more out of the massage when you completely relax.
  9. Drop any guilty thoughts about the time and money going into your massage. You deserve to take good care of yourself.
  10. Take a few long deep breaths at the beginning of the massage to slow down and relax.
